Honestly, I guess the main difference is that I don't know of any current streaming services that make user-made playlists as easy to find as they were on 8tracks. And I liked that it was extremely easy to search for playlists through the tagging system, and how the main page would suggest playlists with similar themes to what you'd recently listened to. #Submit your music to 8tracks radio series#I liked that I could find 20-song playlists for whatever obscure book series I read when I was like, 13. Personally, I enjoyed the fact that the format of the site forced you to listen to most of the songs all the way through. And then there'd be stuff like "Vetinari - a discworld soundtrack", "SnapexReader", "Harry Styles is My Dad AU", "A Series of Unfortunate Songs", etc. So you'd see playlists titled "He left", "Rebel Girl - for when you wanna kick ass", "Here Comes the Sun: songs that feel like sunshine", "Soccer Workout 2014", etc. The playlists could sort of be divided into two very loose categories - normal playlists and "fandom" playlists. Unlike Spotify and Apple Music, not only could you not play individual songs, you also couldn't see what song was going to play next. You could search for a band you liked in the search engine, but all of their songs would be locked in playlists that happened to be tagged with the band's name.
